Bunkers
Members will be aware that the Green’s Staff have renovated a number of bunkers during the winter, utilising astro turf to face them. The final part of this renovation work involved re-turfing the top and surrounds of these bunkers. This is not a task that can be done much before the growing season starts and when the turf is laid, we then need the roots to grow to knit the turf to the soil. Until this happens, the bunkers need to remain ground under repair. Turf is an expensive item to purchase, so we need to treat it with care and not be wasteful.

Due to the fact that we are significantly above sea level, our growing season is significantly shorter than more low lying courses, such as Pollok etc. This means that it takes longer into the year for any new turf to knit in.

With the current warmer weather, it is hoped that we may have some of the bunkers in play this weekend, with the remainder in play by the end of the month.

If anyone has any specific questions/suggestions regarding the course, please feel free to email me at greens@cathkinbraesgolfclub.co.uk
